Speaker buzzes only at the C note (5th fret on the G string)

My home practice amp is a Fender Bassman 25. When I play the C note (5th fret on the G string) the speaker buzzes. No other notes make it buzz. The same note on the D string doesn't result in a buzz. Nothing loose in the amp. I don't recall hearing the buzz before (I've had the amp since 2002). Is the speaker gone bad?

Check around the room and see if a cabinet door or objects on tables are vibrating at that frequency. If not then play your bass in the key of B to avoid the C. LOL.....

I've had a similer experience - the speaker to our pa (I went direct from my amp to the board) buzzed on the C & G note on the E & A string 1st position. my amp speaker did not buzz & neither did the other instruments make the speaker buzz. I cut down the gain a smidge on the pa. and changed the "contour" settings ( it adjusts the mid range eq) and that solved the problem

I get that on playing an "A" on the "E" string ... found out the keyboard player was hitting the same low note thru the Pa. Some kind of harmonics thingy ... I hate it when he does that. On bass players, "There can be only one"

Something's loose, or floating about. The hard part is finding it.

You use a tone generator (they can be downloaded) to dial up the resonant frequency and play it while you poke about finding whatever is resonating.

could be a bad glue joint on the dust cap, spider to frame joint or torn surround. Also look at the cone just below the surround, look for folds.

Check your speaker grill and make sure its tight that could do it to.
