But 5A is still a lot of current for a connector intended to carry microamps. The contact area is tiny.

And lead-based paint, cars without seat belts and house wiring with no ground were all time-honored traditions too.

Not to mention Lawn Darts (banned from sale in US and Canada due to user injuries and deaths) and the Gilbert U-238 Atomic Energy Lab (banned after only a year in 1952 due to its inclusion of four types of radioactive substances).

Actually Munji, i've had to replace several of the plastic speaker jacks, ala Marshal, because they melted.

But none of them are still being built, are they? I think most players of electric instruments still use ¼-inch plugs on their speaker cables. Not that I'd use them. I use Speakon® exclusively because, as I said, they're better for a number of reasons. My point is that the ¼-inch plugs will work with little risk of issues.

Speakon Schmeakon our PA speakers dont even have spoeakons...1/4 inch only!

They are old P-R-O speakers loaded with all Electro Voice components. Theyre rippers for sure.

I wouldn't use anything but a single cable- cobbling together cables is OK at line level but it's just asking for trouble at speaker level. Murphy's Law, and all that. O'Toole's Corrollary to Murphy's Law- "Murphy was an optimist".
