Maybe a tape measure would be a solid idea?

And if it isn't: |

| | | | Take a piece of thin rope, hold it to the output of your amp and the input of your cab. Than take a folding rule and look, how long the rope held between your hands appears to be.
Easy, isn't it?

Speaker cables that are a few feet longer than they absolutely need to be do not cause any interference. If a three foot cable won't work for you, try a 6 footer or a ten or twelve footer. You'll be fine.
Line level and mic level signals are subject to external interference, but the use of shielded cables for those applications reduces interference to an inaudible level.
Good luck!

Easy, isn't it? | You got something against thick rope? What about straight rules, eh? |
