Speaker doubt

Sign in to disble this ad
So here, a local electronics store is closing, and a can get a jensen 16r ceramic vintage 15" for 20 euros, and I am going to build a custom cabinet.
My only doubt is: the speakers are 16 ohm, so I am going to wire them as 8 ohm, but each one of them can only handle 100 watts, if i wire them that way, can they handle 200 watts?

You will get a 200 watt thermal rating, but be sure they're bass drivers. Most Jensen vintage drivers have guitar driver specs, with only the vicinity of 20 watts displacement limited power handling.

I also have doubts, that they *are* bass speakers. Be sure to find out BEFORE you buy them.

Those are guitar speakers. Throw one in an old Ampeg Gemini II or any Fender with reverb and see what happens. I wouldn't be buying them for a bass, but I would be to put in a guitar amp or two or to resell.
