Speaker grill cloth to match my SVT-VR

Sign in to disble this ad
After seeing Johnk_10's SVT-VR with a matching SVT-410HLF I had to try it for myself.

The cloth came from fliptops. Not a perfect match but is pretty close. Can't tell there's much of a difference under stage lights.

Had to get the missus to help get it lined up on the framed and stretched into place while I stapled it. A bit of struggle but overall I'm happy with it.

Nice!

Dave how's that Berg look with grill cloth? I always hear good things about their cabs but I'm not a fan of the look of metal grills.

Thanks!

If I ever do something like this again I'll make a point to mark the original screw holes. I didn't get the velcro pieces lined up right to begin with and didn't have time to fix it before a gig I had this week. I was afraid I would hit a note and it would come flying off.

I'd love to try a Berg. I hear they work pretty well with an SVT.

I owe the people at Fliptops an apology. Seems the cloth is a dead match for the 810AV. I just never noticed the cloth on the VR wasn't the same. Go figure.

looks great!
i now get my ampeg cloth from tubesandmore.com, since its genuine ampeg cloth.
http://www.tubesandmore.com/scripts/...XP?item=S-G294

here's an 810E cab that i used it on after i restored/re-tolexed it. its an exact match to the VR (head on top):

here it is on a 610HLF:

this 410HLF's cloth was from mojomucial (not exact but close). i has darker horizontal stripes in the pattern.

John, you do some awesome work. This 410 I have could stand to be re-tolexed but I'm pretty sure I'd screw that up. That and with it a little beat up I don't worry about babying it.

When I was planning on doing this I was trying to explain it to my wife and ended up showing her the picture of your Ampeg family. She just shook her head. I could try to explain it but I don't think she would understand.

I'm digging Dave's Berg, too!
