Speaker jack socket question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello everyone! I don't know if I can explain this correctly so you can help me out but I'll do my best! I have a swr workingman's 15, the older version. I separated the head from the cab by sawing off the top. Now I have a head and a cab. There is a part of the spearker cable that comes from inside the cab that is now hanging. I want to remove the male stereo jack and connect a fitting plug and attach it to the cab. The thing is there is the possibility of disconnecting the horn on the head and I guess that is why the jack is stereo. I wouldn't like to lose this feature when using the swr head but I would like to be able to use the cab with other heads. I don't mind not having the tweeter with other heads. I guess what I need is a stereo jack sockett. But will it work ok when I connect a mono speaker cable to use with another head? Another thing, and probably most important, I can't open the cab to know how that thing is wired. I've checked the manual and there is no info available. Inside the cable there are three wires: black, green and white. It looks like the black is the sleeve, the green the ring and the white is the tip but I'm not sure.
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Mmm, It kinda sounds like maybe the Horns crossover/L-pad is built into the power section on that model. Are any of the amp sections knobs labeled as a Horn or Tweeter level?

Have you already tried removing the grill and speaker (or maybe a handle) to get a look inside that cab?

You could just install a TRS jack and use a TRS cable to make the connection. You're going to have to pull the speaker anyway to do the install, so why not now?
