Speaker question for all....

Sign in to disble this ad
When I was " stabilizing " the torn dustcaps on the 2 15s that are in the Cabinet, I noticed something. When I spread my fingers and pushed in gently on the cones, the top speaker seems firm to push in, BUT...the bottom speaker moved in and out with NO effort. I did NOT feel ANY friction at all in either speaker. What does this signify, if anything?

I had someone tell me that the " ultra free " moving speaker is older than the firm moving one. This true, or bunk?

Thanks for replies in advance.
