| | | | Speaker Replacement - Mesa Powerhouse 1000

Hello Wise Wizards
I have a Mesa Powerhouse 1000 and my original EVM 15L has bit the biscuit. Lent it out, something happened, now it's an issue.
Now these speakers tend to be difficult to get replaced for a descent price so I would like to know if anybody knows what current model speaker sounds similar\emultaes the tone of a EVM 15L? I cant seem to find any answers.
My 4x10 EVM's still work fine and have no need to be replaced.
Thanks in advance oh wise ones! |

| | | | yeah, It'll cost me around $150 to get it re-coned, but was hoping to not have to go that route. Especially since I'm fairly broke right now.
So I know I can get it re-coned, does anyone have any suggestions though for a speaker that is tonally similar to the evm 15l or a good reccomendation for a replacement? |

New speakers are more expensive than just reconing that one. |

Never mind reread the title!
It's the same old mixture of a 4x10 and a 1x15 all in a box. No wonder the 15 died - it never had a chance!

The answer is always gonna be " nothing sounds like a 15L"
Otherwise a Eminence Legend should work, It handles same power and has same weight, has a cast frame as well.
the mechanical quality is about the same, and the EV has 3.3xmax
and the Legend has 4.8mm
The EV has really good sensitivity at 100dB and the eminence comes in a little lower at 98dB. Eminence Legend CB158
you can buy one here

The 10s have higher efficiency 'cos there's four of them, higher power handling 'cos there's four of them and most times will go lower again 'cos there's four of them.
A 2x10 and a 1x15 will work but for a 4x10 a 2x15 is needed. Better in both cases would be a pair of identical 2x10s, a pair of identical 1x15s or a pair of identical 4x10s.
Your cab is an example of engineering by looks and is based on the outmoded idea that a large cone will produce more lower frequencies than a smaller one. If that were true the PJB cabs with their 5" drivers would never be able to handle a bass.

you can buy one here | The stock 15 in that cab is already being outgunned by the 4X10's
Now you want to recommend a speaker that has 2db LESS sensitivity ?
That means it is going to need around 2/3 MORE power just to get as loud as the old stock speaker
