speaker space?

Sign in to disble this ad
trying to understand this.I see posts where it is said that a 212 cab is = to a 410 or a 115 to a 210. what would have more output,a410 or 212.seems to me that a 410 would have alot more output than a 212 or a 210 would have more output than 115.410 speakers have almost twice as much speaker space than 212 in my estimation? this question may not be worthy of an answer but im asking anyway. cut me a little slack,I have about 5 vodka tonics in my system.

Output capability of a cab is determined by the total displacement (T/S spec Vd) of the drivers. Driver size and number is immaterial, since for any given driver size displacement may range over an 8:1 ratio between the largest and smallest available. AFAIK the only manufacturer that publishes displacement limited power figures is Barefaced Bass.
