Speakers for 2x15 cab

Sign in to disble this ad
So I've got an old Traynor bass cab, 2x15 style, and the speakers just kinda stopped working. Considering that this thing is fairly old and has never been serviced, it's a blessing that they've held up for so long. So what would be a good set of speakers for it? I honestly don't know much about speakers, but I don't wanna be taken for a ride at my local guitar shop when I get them to fix it. Or better yet, if someone has a guide of how to wire two speakers to make them 4 ohms, that would be pretty cool. Thanks a million.

Just get a pair of the Eminence 3015, there kinda pricey they are 8 ohm drivers and all you need to do is connect positive to positive and negative to negative, and you'll have a 4 ohm load ... or you might try the Delta 15A, it's a little less money .....

Ah, ok. See, I guess it's because it seemed way too simple that I was afraid of messing it up, ya'know?

EV 15L's. Amazing tone and power. I found some at local car stereo/speaker store for like 60 dollars. Those are the kind that Mesa Boogie used to have in some of their enclosures a few years back. I get compliments all the time, and I strongly recommend them.

^exactly what I was thinking the 3015 should be great for this cab~ make sure you get the regulare 3015 ('full' range) as opposed to the 3015LF(more of a subwoofer).

Do a search, this identical question was posed, and answered, within the past ten days or so. What you're running for an amp is a very significant factor.

The Eminences are great, one of my favorite 15's have to be the Peavey Black Widows though. I haven't been a big fan of Celestion's bass speakers but I really like their Neo 15's.

This. I love these speakers. Great all around sound. Maybe a bit on the bright side, but I like that.
