Which speakers for Acoustic 402 cabinet

Hi,

i'm pretty new to talkbass...
Gotta chance to buy Acoustic 402 cabinet loaded with original Altec speakers.
At home i got 2x JBL K140 speakers, sitting under the bed for a long time. One JBL is in my 1x15 bass cabinet, and i love that K140.

Could anyone answer me which speakers would be better option for that Acoustic 402 cab?
Never tried Altec,but think might gonna like them.Really don't know.
What would be the difference in sound?

Altec speakers were, and still are, well respected. I suggest you try the cabinet and see what you think. Whether the JBLs would work properly in that cab is another question.

What amp will you be driving the cabinet with?

Back in the late 60s and early 70s I use to use two of these cabinets with an Acoustic 150b amp/Acoustic 300 power amp.
One cabinet loaded w/K140s and the other with K145s.

Loved the sound of that rig!

Back to reality... try the Altecs. Depending on your pre-amp and power amp they could be just right. If not, try the Ks.
