speakers designed to sound torn?

Sign in to disble this ad
This is a bizarre question I know..but are there any speakers out there that are designed to give that torn speaker sound ? Without tearing a speaker up and watching it degrade from that point. Something that gives that sound with consistancy

I would try putting some spray paint on it that will weigh down the speaker and possibly give it that sound. or you just could get a good overdrive pedal

Give Bag End a call. They have a speaker cabinet that is designed to break up at very low levels, but still sound good and musical. They are very helpful and will be glad to talk with you about it.

Definitely just try an overdrive pedal.

Use guitar speakers....or do like in the old days and slice the cones with a razorblade. Coating the slices with a little glue might keep them from tearing further......for a little while.

The pushed/torn speaker sound and the tube overdrive sound are so much alike that there's really nothing to be gained by it IMHO.
