Speakon/Ampeg

What year did Ampeg start putting Speakon jacks on the 4x10HLF, and what year did they begin to make that cabinet?

Every SVT-410HLF I've ever seen had speakons, FWIW...

I have the same question. There's one I'm looking at that does not have the Speakon jacks. Would you let this deter you?

Anyone know when Ampeg started putting the Speakon jacks on and when the SVT-410HLF was first made?

The type of jack really doesn't matter and certainly won't affect the sound. The phone plug has been used since the first telephones (hence, the name), well over 100 years ago. It works and that's why it has been used for so long. Also, phone plugs are often cheaper than Speakon, but again, either will work just fine.

Thanks, that helps. I think I'm going to go take a look at it.

Wow, the Ampeg book has nothing about SLM cabs. But when it first came out, there were two models, SVT 410hlf and SVT 410hln. The N stood for Neutrik. At the time they were pretty new and hadn't been phased in as standard. Don't ask me about timelines, though. Totally clueless.

If it's of interest I bought my 410HLF in 2001, it has speakon jacks, my 96 SVT-CL didn't...
