speakon cable questions/pertains to blown amp

Sign in to disble this ad
i had my gk mb210 running into my gk mbe410. it was at my friends house while i wasnt, so my friends jammed on it. one of them turned the gain all the way up, and tuned on the fuzz factory pedal blew something in the amp. im taking it to get repaired and thats all fine.

but im wondering if the speakon cable could be damaeged in any way since it was connecting them? it doesnt look damaged or fried at all but then again ive never had this problem before.

I hope they are paying for the repair plus buying you a drink for their rudeness, I would not dream of playing someones gear without asking first

It's highly unlikely that the speaker cable suffered any damage.

With friends like that...
The speakon had nothing to do with it. Your amp was toasted by terminal stupidity.

Thinking about this issue, it would be good if the amp manufacturers explained this in their manuals, many buy a new amp and dont know what effect the knobs have or what damage they can do and why would they ?
My new amp (TC BH500) has an LED gain level indicator which I like, it helps get an understanding of the relationship between gain and master volume, plus I like flashing lights

If it were me I would demand to have the amp replaced and not repaired.

Forget the amp - replace your friend.

The Amp shouldn't have blown.
GK knows this and is fixing it under warranty. This is why they have a warranty. A quite good long warranty because this just doesn't happen much.

Now speakers - they only give a very short warranty.

To most people manuals are just trash can liners
