i have a mesa titan and want to use one channel with a clean bass signal and the other channel with several effects.
If i buy a Y plug to split my signal to those 2 paths, will a degradation in sound quality be present? |

It depends on whether your bass is passive, and whether any feedback is possible between the amp's input stages. Generally I'd advise against a Y cable, just to avoid even the possibility of that degradation, but sometimes it works fine. |

In the mean time, keep posting. |

i will report how it went. |

| | | | what kind of effects? Most have a wet/dry setting which is essentially the same.
Or a small mixer with effects send/return levels would work.

No problems for me, and I've tried it in both directions - I usually use it to quickly swap basses during a gig both going into the switch then into 1 amp, but I've also tried it 1 bass into 2 amps. The switch doesn't care.

for those who care, here it is what i want to do.
the signal of the bass goes directly into my markbass compressore as i believe it is the best pedal i have and want to use it as an always on pedal...
then i want to split the signal so the markbass output will go into the lehle splitter. then in my mesa titan i will use channel A for pure clean bass sound and channel b for effects. so, one of the outputs of the lehle will be directed into the mesa and the other output into my rocktron patchmate 8... then i will control the effects (mxr octave, mxr envelope, sansamp vt, carl martin chorus and mxr carbon delay) with the midi mate/patchmate.
the titan footswitch will control the switching between channels.
the lehle will be important because when i bypass all the pedals with the rocktron, the sound does not have the same strength as when plugged directly into the amplifier.
i hope to solve my problem this way. the markbass like stated will be an always on pedal as i like it so much. |
