Stacking order?

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, I did search but came up empty.

I have an Ashdown MAG 300 Evo II head, and Ashdown 410 and 210 cabs (both 8 ohm).

Does it make any difference which one goes on the bottom? And if so, what is the reason?

The horn in the 410 is obviously in the centre, the one in the 210 is above the drivers. I am going to fit castors to whichever I put on the bottom, hence why I am leaning towards putting the bigger 410 there.

Any advice would be great.

Put the 210 on top as it would be the weak link. beign up higher will allow you to hear if the drivers are stressed and farting. Each of the speakers in the 210 will be reciving double the wattage of the 410 as each cab is 8 ohms and will draw the same current.

Put the 210 on top. The speakers in the 210 will be getting twice the power that the speakers in the 410 see. This way you will be able to hear the 210 complaining should you push the cab that far.

point being that this isn't such a great "stack" after all.

i'd just use the 4x10 on bigger gigs and the 2x10 on smaller gigs.

Ahh ok, this is kind of the answer I was looking for, regarding compatibility.
So my head is putting out 300w at 8 ohms.
Am I right in thinking that in the 210 each driver will get 150w, and in the 410 75w each?
If so I will be able to go louder with just the 410?

No. If both cabs are 8 ohm cabs they all receive the same power input. Electrical power does not care if they are in separate boxes, electrons can't "see" the difference. You may have different displacement power limits if the 210 is a smaller cab. If you have a SS amp the output power will be increased from 300 watts with the total 4 ohm load.

The total power you can put into the 2 cabs is the same for the 4x10 by itself.

Yep! The displacement limits of the 6x10 stack will be the same as a single 4 ohm 4x10. Both cabs would see the same amount of power (~150-200w) when run alone. Btw i thought the Mag 300 is 300w at 4 ohms. That would mean both would see up to 150w when run in combination. That's probably still within a safe range.
