Well I just sold my markbass f1 + svt-12he and I got asked to start playing at a local church. Its a good size church. From what I know about 1500-2000 congregation.
I dont want a heavy rig and I am on a budget of around $500-$750 at max.
I really dig the tone of the walkabout combo but it costs $1299.99
I know if I wait out I can probably get a used one for around $800-$1000 here.
I cannot wait because I start playing this week and I have no amp =(
Right now I am finally happy about the 2 basses I have and I have no more gas.
I have a 06 warwick streamer stage II and a 2001 fender hot rodded p bass in transparent orange with maple board.
My dilema (sp) I been looking at the used market in the area and found these:
used markbass jeff berlin combo: $649.99 + 10% off
used david eden metro combo: $809.99 + 10% off
new gk mb210 combo: $599.99 + 10% off
used ampeg svt-pro3 + 410hlf: $758.00 + 10% off
used ampeg ba115hp: $299.99 + 10% off
I haven't played the markbass yet but Im sure its somewhat close to the f1 I had. I love the tone of the david eden as I used to gig wtih a wt600 model back in the late 90's
Going to try out the rest tonight.
I really want the Mesa but if I really want it now I have to sell my fender which I really dotn want to.
I can choose one of the cheaper options up top and just resell it later when I have more money saved up and buy a walkabout but I need something NOW..
Any suggestions? I have the 2 basses I always wanted now and I think I can settle for less on the amp department since most of the tone comes from the fingers =)
The walkabout just sounded like it was in a totally different league though.
What should I do? Go with a cheap $300 used amp for now until christmas is over? or are any of the other choices a good choice?
Looking mostly for quality control on these amps. Oh and the DI parts of the amp matter since most of the sound will be going to the house pa system. |

Just get yourself something to use as a monitor/home practice rig.
Maybe something like one of these would fit the bill?

Used it at church this weekend and man this little combo is lightweight and thumbs real hard! The highs were there and no hiss since there is no tweeter. I was suprised how well the highs and mids came out at loud volumes for a single 15". | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
