Stereo Power Amp for Guitar and Bass

Wondering if anyone here runs a setup like this.

I play bass in a band but we often switch instruments. Rather than having two amps, I'm considering getting a dual channel pre, plugging both guitar and bass into it, then running it into a Crest CC2800 and either bridging it into two full range 3-way speakers or running the pre outs on separate channels and running a 4 ohm 4x10 on the bass side and a 4 ohm 4x12 on the guitar side. This way I could have either independent signal chains all the way through or up to the power amp.

Any thoughts or ideas will be helpful and if you have a similar setup, pics would be cool.

Way too complicated IMO. Just take off your bass and put on the guitar player's ax, or your own ax into his amp.

Commonly seen, but makes no sense. A 4x10 on bass is roughly equivalent in output to a 1x12 on guitar. If you really want to run your own guitar amp do so using a 1x12 combo. It doesn't look as cool as a half stack, but it works better.

+1 I also dabble with guitar, and do much the same as Bill described. Bass into bass rig, small 15-30 watt 1x12 guitar combo off to the side. It's more than enough.

I only mentioned those cabinets because that's what I have laying around. The issue with just taking the guitarist's guitar is there are certain songs where I need to play guitar in addition to the other 2 guitarists. I have a 1x12 combo laying around but I'm actually leaning more towards bass/guitar into dual pre into stereo power amp into two 15" 3 way speakers.

I like a relatively hi-fi, high-headroom rig for bass. For guitar, not so much.

Out of curiosity's sake, which two-channel pre were you considering for this?

+1. Even with modelers hi-fi rigs tend not to sound good with guitar, as the modelers are usually voiced for use through guitar speakers.

Right now I have a DBX 386 that I use in the studio but a friend has a Presonus Eureka he's willing to offer me pretty cheap (though it's mono so if I do the pre/power for just bass I'll probably take him up on it)
