Stompbox preamp running a power amp?

I heard just the other day that an Aguilar Tone Hammer can run a power amp. Does anybody do this or know if it is possible (with this preamp or with any other outboards)?

I can't comment on the Aggie, but the Tech 21 Bass VT was designed to.

Yes, the Aggie can do it and many others can too--but not all! Some pedal preamps don't have high enough output, and some power amps have very unhelpfully high sensitivity ratings. Check out the preamps article in the FAQ in my sig for a full detailed explanation.
