Im not jumping on the 'MB customer service thread' thats around, Im just interested, as I may sell my LM3 for the Streamliner 900.
Im interested in how different the 'tone' will be.
Its not so much headroom im looking for, its more a very warm clean tone, articulate, with the headphone in, aux in, and voltage selector. It will be perfect for touring.
Ideas?
Thanks

Very different sound when you compare flat. The S900 is much bigger and warmer sounding with more wool. The MB is thinner with more clarity. If you roll is some VFE on the LMTube you get closer to the S900, but it doesn't gave the same fatness - it is still more mid-focused. Similarly is you put the S900 mid control at 220 and cut it you can get closer to the LMTube sound. At the risk of generalizing tone, the S900 is definitely more warm/fat while the LMT is thinner and more articulate. The S900 has way more variability in gain structure, and the tone depends on how you tweak the gain and vol settings as well. It also has more bounce to the notes than the LMTube. Just depends on what you want. |

Compared back to back with the S900 the LMTube does sound thin. So does the MB Fusion. But it (LMTube) still is a very nice sounding amp. I've already got a prospective buyer for my LMTube so I'll be done with the whole thing soon... |

I think unfortunately its going to be a case of changing back over. Weird! Never thought this would happen. If I had the £'s Id have both, but I also have an RH750 and Orange AD200b, so Ive got tube amps covered!
