Sub 50 watt Tube Amp?

Is there anything like this? I was thinking a Valve Jr, but then I would have to modify it. Ar there any other options?

For bass? The only ones I'm aware of are the Ashdown Little Bastard, (30watts, iirc), and older Ampeg B-15's. I'm sure therre are others, but, for the price to build an all-tube amp, especially for bass, most will be 100, 200, or 300 watters.

Yeah...Bass...I thought about building my own, although a Little Bastard would be cool too. Do the build yourself ones have treble, mid, bass, gain controls?

The Epi VJ's are great little tube heads for very little money and work.
Just put a big Hammond tranny in it and some good tubes.
If you want more adjust ability and volume from a passive bass put a good pre amp/DI like a Aguilar Tone Hammer.
Even with the amp, mods and Tone Hammer I only have about $300 into mine.

There is a club thread for little tube amps.

50w-100w Valve Owners Thread

Lots of sub 50w in there too.

Hate to hear that nothing against the little bastard but you passed up a lot of great amps for the same or less money!

I know...I'm not gigging now, and need something cool to sit in my living room and play. Found one for a few hundred cheaper then the going rate, and have some extra gear I can sale off. Also wanted to try Ashdown stuff for awhile.

Heck man. I want to know how your gorgeous orange bass sounds with that Ashdown Little Bastard. What cab are you going to use? Keep the thread alive.

Thanks man...I'll let you know when I get it! Right now I have 2 Ampeg 210AV's I'm going to try, but I'm looking into getting an Ashdown cab trying to decide between the VS212, VS112 or VS115. I'm on the fence, so if anyone wants to chime in on which would be the best pairing, I'm all ears!

Those 210AV's should be quite a good sound. Nothing to say you need same brand cabs with heads. If you go with anything less than 2 15's you won't be getting near the air moved with the Ampegs.

Btw, I couldn't get enough clean output from 50W, ymmv.

Yeah...I was thinking the same but realistically this rig will probably never leave my living room. Just weighing my options.

If it's in his house, how much output does he need? And it sure must be a drag not to be able to get enough output from 50w. I can usually get enough with half that, which means I can use B-15's onstage

you could get an old movie projector amp and be creative...

this one is 20 watts and the amp was originally inside a 1x12 box.
