Subwoofer for extra dooming bottom?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all... I'm in a doom metal group and we play lots of house shows and such without full PA support. I'm looking for a way to add some low end to my rig. Is there any way to daisy chain a PA subwoofer with my bass rig to pump some lows?

Thanks.

You can get a powered subwoofer and let the sound guy use it, possibly, but at the cost of that you might as well also consider getting a real bass cab that puts out actual lows. This is possible now.

IMHO you would be better off ditching the 10's and getting a couple 2x15 cabs. As to the actual question you asked I suppose you could get a powered sub and run a line from the pre amp out on your head if it is equiped with one.

2x15 is the way to go. check out Mesa Powerhouse cabs for some seriously deep low end, no subs necessary

Get one of those Peavey 2x18/2x10 cabs (i forget their name) if you want lotsa lows.

Honestly though, it's not REALLLY necessisary.

My buddy in a fairly known doom band uses 8 15's and has NO problem bringing the lows. (he plays a 5r and drops the low B to A as well as some Boss OC-2 ussage that will make you **** yer britches)

I don't play much doom (if i do it's more drone than doom) and i use 3 15's and 2 12's, and i also have no desire or real need to get any lower than i already am.

If you want to add lows to an existing rig, I suggest a horn-loaded sub, such as the Bill Fitzmaurice Titans.
