I recently purchased a markbass cmd 121p. I've been practicing on it a little and might take it to a gig this weekend. I like the size and output of the amp, but there are a couple things I'm not thrilled with. With the small size, I wish the amp had a tilt back option, hearing myself in a small venue may not be ideal. Also, when I'm practicing I like to be able to listen to the amp through my headphones. I thought the head would have a normal headphone output but it doesn't seem that it does. Considering the high price, I'm thinking about returning it if I could find a similar size amp (no bigger) that had a decent amount of output and atleast the tilt back option. I'm really uneducated when it comes to amps. Could somebody suggest ideas for other combos or head and speaker systems that could work with those features? I can't fit any larger of an amp in my car and I'm not looking to spend over 900.
You could get the "Mark Stand" designed to tilt the cab back:
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution for you regarding the headphones and your current amp. None of my amps have had headphone jacks. I use my Macbook Pro running Ampeg SVX with headphones and an IKMultimedia Stealth Plug for practice.
I don't know of many amps that have a tilt back option. Just put it on a chair or an amp stand.
Most pro level amps won't have a headphone jack either. I guess they're becoming a little more standard, but still not totally.
