Suggestions for Amp and cabs needed

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Everyone,

I am looking to modernize my amp setup and need some advice. I'm an old timer now and moving heavy cabs is getting rough.. I used an Acoustic 370 from the mid 70 thru the 90's..( I loved that thing, no longer have the cab but still own the head and it is used in the rehearsal space. )

next, I went to and still use a Hartke 3500, and have two 410 cabs..for normal gigs I just use the 1 cab, but if needed I add the second...I also have a little Hartke 12 kickback for the real small gigs, and that works just fine..

I' have been looking around and the choices are overwhelming.

To narrow things down, I would like to get a light class D head, 800w or so, and two 2x12 cabs..(the 2nd cab would not be used all the time..but i would like the cabs to be 8 ohms, so when doubled I'm at 4ohms.

Any suggestions on a head and cabs..?

Thanks much everyone!!

I'd recommend Ampeg SVT 7 PRO 1st. Then GB Shuttle 9.0
Both great amps with heaps of power.
The Ampeg has THAT Ampeg sound, where the Shuttle is quite transparent, but with great eq, & the ability to add a nice tube drive &/or flavour if desired.
