Sugggestions For Little Home Amp w/Audio In For iPod/Phone

Sign in to disble this ad
Are there any light and small amps out there that have a mixable audio input that I can use to plug an iPod or smartphone into with tunes to jam along with? I need something I can both play at a low volume or use headphones, depending on the situation. Small and light is the main criteria beyond that. Tone isn't a big deal. Price... as cheap as possible as long as it will effectively do what I want it to do.

Yes, I could feed it all into a mixer, but really looking for something to put in the living room that's small, simple, and out of the way.

Ampeg Micro VR, Gallien Krueger MB200 come to mind.
My vote goes to the GK, nice little unit!

Thanks, I should have specified that I'm looking for a small combo amp, not just a head. I have an Aguilar for rehearsal and gigs but it's too big/heavy for this use.

Small and light combo with aux in and headphone out?
Genz Benz Shuttle 3 with the 8 or 10 inch cab
Shuttle Series | GENZ BENZ
Or one of the Phil Jones combos like this guy (smallest model):
Compact Bass Amp – Bass Cub BG-100 Is a Great Practice Amplifier | Phil Jones Pure Sound
And last the Ibanez Promethean combo

Acoustic B20 works super nice. My Ampeg BA 112 is a good one as well.

The little SWR LA Series amps have a "Mix-In" jack and headphone output jack.
They're also equipped with 2 real sturdy grab bars for transport and they aren't heavy.
The downside may be the price. LA12 (60W) was about $250 new.
Good luck.
