Sun Concert Bass Amp ohms?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I'm new here...hoping someone can help me out.

Does anyone know the ohms on a Sun Concert bass amp(red and black faced)it says 400 watts but it doesnt say what ohms. im Running two 200 watt Marshall cabinets both 4/10s and I'd like to add a 2/15 for more low end. All these cabinets are 8 ohms. is this posible or will i have less power or blow my rig

Also, does anyone know if there is a manual available anywhere for download for this amp?

Thanks.

Chances are adding a 2x15 won't add more low end to a good 2x410 rig. But a 200 watt rated 410 raises questions, such as are they even bass cabs?

The red and black version is 200 watts @ 2 ohms. The older silverfaced models are 150watts @ 4 ohms. Can't really answer the other part of your question. Don't know how you'd hook up three cabs to a single amp as I've never done it. If you daisy chain two of the cabs you'd get a 4 ohm load, and then adding the other 8 ohm load would result in 2.6 ohm to the amp if I'm recalling my impedance math correctly. Then again, I don't remember how things work when you daisy chain two cabs so, maybe someone else can come along and verify this.

I use a Sunn CB with 2 concert slaves (all red/black models) to run 4 cabs. None are being run at their 2 ohm limit but I've done it before with no harm done to the amp. One amp runs a 4 ohm 2x15, another amp runs another 4 ohm 2x15 and the third amp runs an 8 ohm 4x12 and an 8 ohm 1x18. So 4 ohms to each amp.

I had a Silver face Sunn Concert Bass Amp and I was told it was 175 RMS, or around 400W's. I'm looking for a 215SH Sunn Scoop, Folded horn Cabient. "Cheap" Doesn't have to have speakers. Need to see a photo of it.

Concert Bass load

I have a `72 (silver face) Concert Bass, published rating is 150 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohms. The `75 (black face) and later versions are rated for 200 Watts @ 2 Ohms, but most owners trying to run these at the 2 Ohm load have run into problems. Both amps use the exact same design/components, just that the later one has a larger heat sink. Forced air cooling is probably the only way to safely operate these at 2 Ohms. My `72 runs hot on a 4 Ohm load.
