Sunn 1200S impedance question

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking about getting a Sunn 1200S in the future. I know it makes 1200 watts at 2 ohms, and 800 watts at 4 ohms, but I'm curious how to operate it in 4 ohms. according to the online user manual, it only has "1200 watts at 2 ohm min" on the back...no mention of 4 ohms anywhere. so...to run it at 4 ohms, you just plug it into one 4 ohm cab? no switching or special hole I'm supposed to plug it in? (I know how that sounded...bear with me)

Yep!

Thats how you do it.

The amp puts out 800w when an 4 ohm load is connected. Such is transistors, and their lack of an output transformer.

Just plug it in and your good to go ... I have the Fender Bassman 1200 Pro version and it's a good sounding amp ... IMHO

That is what the volume control is for .... yes it will work, just don't run it flat out, when you hear the speakers farting out you've pushed it too much, just be prudent in your volume
