Sunn 300t head amp

Sign in to disble this ad
So long story short, my father passed away about 5 years ago and left me a bunch of his guitar equipment including a sunn 300t head amp. As far as I know my father just purchased it and never used it. I'm now looking to sell it but I have no base of knowledge to go off of. I would really appreciate it if someone could give me advice on how to go about 'appraising' this since it seems rare to find someone with one of these amps. Guitar center in Miami would not even offer a figure for it. Also, I am not sure what year it is.

That model Sunn head was the last produced by Sunn before being taken over by Fender, who simply changed the badge and continued production under their name until recently.

I have never heard a bad report on this head and have owned Sunn valve heads before so I too, believe it will be snapped up.

Take a look at Ebay and see what they are worth and look under Fender to see the exact same head.

I've got one of these... I love it, a great amp. Bought mine for $1050 shipped, but have seen them go for as low as $800 and as high as $1500 on eBay within the past 6-12 months. Hope this helps.

Even that's on the cheap side...

Thanks to DOOM METAL, in this area, anything SUNN goes for stupid prices.

I always get the 300T and Model-T confused... but regardless, the price ranges here have been between $1000 and $2200 (yes, for serious).

It is badged "Sunn", but that's the only thing "Sunn" about it; it's Fender through and through. Nice amp, to be sure, but it was designed and manufactured by Fender, well after they bought the Sunn brand in 1985.

yeah.. you should read the rules on these threads..
BUT dont get your hopes up for high $$$.. those prices are for actual SUNN model Ts... not for fender reissue of the 300 .. they are totally different amps.

I used to own a Sunn Model T paired with a Sunn 4x15 Box. I never thought that much of the amp head. It was "ok" but I felt it was too small for gigging. Broke down and farted too much when used with Gibson EB3's at the time. In the end I paired it with a Marshall 100W double stack and that combined, was ok for gigging.
