Sunn's Sundholm back to building amps!

Custom tube amps, not under the Sunn label, but under the name "Conrad".

Loved his amps back in the day! Still have a 200s (needs work), a Concert and a Concert Slave.

Also have the 8068 Coliseum cab with an EV 12" + 18". Use it with a GK 1001/210 combo.

Dang, that is cool. Love my 200s (though it also needs work)!

He's actually been building the Conrad amps for a few years now... They're getting quite a bit of love from local guitar players. I don't think he's doing anything bass related these days...

The lead guitarist in my band has a Blues Jammer. Phenomenal sounding amps, but loud as balls, to the point of being too loud for most of the places we play...

The day after he got it, in August of '09 we played The White Eagle and it was clearly too much amp for the room. Increduible tone, but ear-bleedingly loud He called Conrad for some choke suggestions or power tube alternatives, and Conrad was 'flabbergasted' that he even brought that amp into the place!!

Another local plays his with the amp face down on the floor and I'm told it sounds great... Never seen/heard this particular guy with his Conrad, so I can't comment...

Hmmm... I wonder if he'll make any big bass heads.

I don't know about bass heads, but he does make a bass pre-amp, refurbs old Sunn gear, and when I asked he quoted me a price on a 2000s cab.

Hmmm... I wonder if he'd build one with a control on the back to switch between 4 ohms and 16 ohms.... the possibilities, you see....

I'd be tempted to yank the head out of that combo and just play it with the bottom cab.

why don't companies make crazy stuff like that now a-days? There are still people, like me, who want big and loud bass amps and cabinets...not everyone wants modular 2x10s...

I think you're further south, but I have a great guy who went through my 200S and really put it in shape... Lemme know if you want his digits...
