Surprised by friends Rumble 30, is something wrong with me???

My friend's wife started playing bass recently and bought an epiphone les paul bass and a fender rumble 30 practice amp.
I had never heard one of these amps before but I'd certainly read enough bad reviews to make me avoid them like the plague. But, I liked the tone she was getting so I plugged in to take it for a spin. It sounded really good. Tight low end, nice upper-mid growl. I plugged in my custom Fender P, Squier VM jazz, and active Schecter elite and they all sounded fantastic. I've been using a Marshall 450mb into Avatar 2x10 for a while now and I had to radically change the EQ to suit each of these basses. The EQ on the rumble didn't seem very powerful, I couldn't change the tone that much, but I liked how it handled all 3 basses; I was able to just plug in and play.
I liked the ease of use so much I actually started thinking of getting one of the larger Rumbles, the 150 or the 350 maybe. Am I crazy? Did the quality on these improve? Did they get an undeserved bad rep? Are my ears broken? What is going on???

Yes iirc they migrated some of the bassman series technology to the Rumble line. I think the 30 is a great little practice amp, have the 350 for gigs and like it too. Heavy though by today's standards...but for the $$

the new head and cab versions look cool - like the 1x12 option

So this year's Rumbles may have different guts from the old ones? That would explain the changes in power (the 25 became a 30, the 100 became a 150, etc).

I've actually heard great things about the new Rumbles, the larger ones especially though. Not sure about getting the split cabs and heads for the added cost, but those combos are pretty appealing.

Yeah, I thought about trying out one of the heads with my avatar cab so see if it got the same sound, but at this point I might want to just get one as a practice combo.
