Sign in to disble this ad
Hi I'm Scotte and I have just purchaced an SVT 2.
I Love this amp. Any way I have an SVT 2P and at the risk of sounding realy stupid can some one explain the right way to hook this up?
Thanks Scotte

Hey congrats Scotte, I own a 1993 SVT-11 too.

Your SVT-II already has a SVT-2p preamp all built in... but if you wanted, you could plug your SVT-2 preamp output into the Power Amp In jack located in the back of your SVT-11 to bypass around its internal preamp.

You could also patch your 2p preamp in-between your bass and the amp head front inputs. You'd be stacking both preamps/tone knobs/EQ's in-line before the signal hit your heads power amp, so you'd want to be kinda careful and bring your 2 volume knob settings up slowly as needed, but you'd probably find you could dial in more preamp distortion at lower volume levels by running a higher volume knob setting on the 2p and a lower than normal volume knob setting on the amp head. Might be really cool sounding or it might suck, but it should work and not harm anything.

Thats cool I was hoping to be able to do that with out harm to the amp.
If you run it thru the amp in it interups the built in pre amp wich defiets the hole purpose of using the 2p. But I did notice tha I can quit down the rig for practice or small gigs.
With out losing tone quality of the notes

bass into the svt2p, then just run the out of the svt2p direct into the svt 2's input. done. don't worry about using it in a loop. us tube men aren't such girls with our stuff where we need loops and all that other sissy crap. just plug it into the front end and start slammin' tones. i'm a fan of double preamps if you can find a use for it that you can't get without it.
