SVT 3 New model vs SVT 3 old model

Im just curious is there any tonal difference between a current production 3 Pro vs one of the older models?

By older model, for clarification, would be something like this

And also whats the main difference between a 3 Pro and a 3 of that vintage.

I merely ask because im looking to get a SVT 3 Pro (or perhaps non pro) for a back up head and I can get the new or old one for about the same price. And I kind of fancy the older one look wise.

They are the same, the only thing that could change their sound are the tubes.

However there is a difference between 3 pro and non pro.

All of the 3 pros are the same (except for cosmetics) the 3 (non-pro) on the other hand is a different beast. The 2 pro and 3 pro both have the pre-amp that is the SVP-PRO, the 2 and 3 (non-pro) have a pre-amp that is the same signal path as the pre-amp in the original SVT (but they use the more readily available 12ax7 and 12au7 tubes). The 3 non-pro has less power than the 3 pro, but both are IMHO vastly inferior to their all tube big brothers, due to the fact that the 3 lacks power tubes to overdrive. Cheers.
