Question SVT 7 Pro Sizzle

Sign in to disble this ad
I tried one of these SVT 7 Pro 1kilowatt amps on one of their matching 8-10 cabs - the one with the steel mesh grill.

Do ALL SVT amps make all that sizzling noise all the time?

I recognize that the upper 10s were running the HIGH freqs and the lower 10s were operating in the LOWs - and the top of the cab was about as high as I was when I was seated - but that hiss and noise in my ears was deafening.

Several other people stated they use SVTs all the time and they couldn't get it quiet either, no matter what settings they dialed in.

Is this just a fluke or not?

my ampegs are extremely quiet. never played a 7 pro, but none of the ampegs i've ever played have been noisy like that. unless of course you boost treble to high heaven. and if you had the highs coming out of the top and the lows coming out of the bottom, that could have happened. highs don't need nearly as much amplification as lows, and certainly not half of an 810e.

'K. I'll buy that - although there were others who tried to make it quiet too. I don't own one nor have I played one before - I was just interested in trying what is supposed to be the CTS of amps.

I know I tried to EQ the noise out - but with it dialed into the tone swamp - it still had a lot of noise just sitting there doing nothing.

i do remember a thread a while back where someone couldnt get rid of a hiss from a svt 7 pro. I don't know if they ever fixed it. As i said, mine doesn't have that problem and the only other one i played did not have that issue either.
