Just curious if anyone has played around with some different 12AX7a tubes in the SVT-7PRO. If so, what have been the results?

Thanks!

Yes I've tried numerous NOS tubes in mine with good results. I ended up using an RCA. Every tube sounds a bit different, the amp definitely let's you know when you find the right one.

Did you get a chance to try any 5721 in place of the 12ax7? Thanks for the reply.

My standard answer, and it's a good one:

A late-production Mullard or Amperex (the same tube, made on the same tooling in the UK and the Netherlands, respectively). Perfectly OK to get the same thing with contract label -- EICO, Hammond, Bogen, etc. -- if the production codes match.

Fairly shortplate and used as the V1 in many of the classic bass tube heads. Great tube, unmatched in current production.
