SVT-810 Mysteries

Sign in to disble this ad
Mysteries or maybe just stupid questions, but I'd like to hear from the loyal Ampeg community on this one

Why so many hole sockets on the top of the cab for the head's rubber feet? Why not just 4 hole sockets?

When using more than 1 of these cabs, I see many players stack them horizontally... Why? I don't get it, but I had to put this stupid question out there with the one above

Thanks in advance!

What is strange is that there are 8 hole sockets on the cab and all pictures of the SVT heads on Ampeg's site have only 4 feet ... hmmm

If you want to use SVT with two fridges you can put it "in the middle"

Vintage heads and cabs had 6 feet/foot cups. As said above, modern 8x10 cabs have 8 cups so you can easily use two cabs or smaller heads like some of the solid state amps. The smaller SVT-series cabs only have 4 cups (like the 2x10 and 1x15 cabs), all of which makes using a vintage head with the modern cabs a pain in the arse unless you remove the middle set of feet.

Thanks, everybody, for your input!

Question for mazdah, if I run 2 SVT810 cabs, and put my head in the middle, then I'm running at 2 ohms... can an SVT head handle down to 2 ohms? (just curious)

Cheers!

Thanks, mazdah -- God bless America! Safe down to 2-ohms and extra feet sockets to prove it! :-)

The orignal SVT used two cabs for the complete setup. The multi-cups are a remnant from that era.

Though with the change to 100W speakers it is far better to use two heads with two cabs.

Also the 4PRO would not be proper for use with two cabs at 2 ohms using only 1 channel. I also feel it doesn't have enough power to whomp the cab with one cab per channel at 4 ohms. It's best to use an amp per cab.

Works good lasts long time.
