SVT cable/connector damage issue

Sign in to disble this ad
So I let a band borrow my SVT rig (410 HLF) last night to play a concert at my church since I was going to play it this morning and was told the band members were all pros, etc. so I assumed nothing could go wrong.

Turns out they tried to move my rig closer to the drum kit, didn't realize the head was attached by the speakon cable and broke the cable. I wasn't there to witness what happened but that's what I was told.

The speakon connector at the amp seems okay but there is a broken screw where the connector is in back of the cabinet. They guy responsible says he'll pay for whatever damage he caused (including buying me a new cable).

I'm taking the amp to rehearsal tonight to try it out and make sure everything works okay. Anyone with thoughts or suggestions for what I should be listening for (e.g., stuff that goes wrong when an SVT gets dropped, etc.) please let me know.

Thanks.

Stuff that goes wrong when an SVT is dropped:

It doesn't work right.

Pretty much that simple, although many times, nothing happens at all and it works fine. Hopefully it's just a cable and a screw that's the problem.

BTW, you don't have to be an amateur to do dumb stuff. I do it all the time.

I'm hoping it's all good, I'm just going to plug it in tonight and cross my fingers. I know nothing about amp technology, I just use them. If it sounds okay and doesn't explode I'm going to assume nothing came loose inside and it's okay.
