Hey Brain, this is your lower back down here! Please dont do it, for god's sake! The torture!!!

Hey Brain, this your heart&soul here- You will never be happier than when standing in front of that, locked in with your drummer on one of THOSE nights. At the end you will look back and remember it up there with the best scotch, the most beautiful woman, the birth of your children........

Common Sense chimes in- you should own this while you are young and able to handle it. Then keep yourself strong so you can play it as long as possible.

Our band had a little hiatus between seasons, so I've only been playing through my smaller rig at home and jamming with some friends.

Tonight we had our first rehearsal since, and I plugged into my beloved and cherished SVT for the first time in a few months. That feeling alone is worth every single schlep and carry I've made since I bought it years ago. Playing through a good big tube amp is a visceral experience and a pure joy. Maybe not for everyone, but those that feel it know it.

As one of my mate use to say in french "tu veux l'son ? porte le caisson" "want the sound ? carry the cab"

i'm a Hi-Fi guy, SWR and tutti (Eden, Markbass, etc....) but .... DAMN !!!! I played once on a big venue with the local SVT-CL + 8X10 rig, I had a ball !!! now, it's not my everyday cup of tea, but I must recognize it's the holly grail of tube amps.

I run an svt cl, 90's model I think

I use FOUR ampeg 210av's.

I put two stacked horizontally
then my head
then two more horizontally

that way the head is easy to lift to that position, short speaker cables easily reach all of the cabinets as well, and I have sound on the ground and at head level.

That's what I used when I had an SVT. But back when I used mine, it was only a 10yr old Peavey 215.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

Almost, its more like an actual 8x10 because it ends up being the same height, just modular. The 2x10s stack horizontally to form 4 tall by 2 wide, with the head in the middle.

My 810 fits nicely in the backseat of my 2004 Honda Accord; I can even fit my bass case between it and the front seats.

I actually managed to fit my 8x10 across the back seat of a 97 Ford Taurus sedan on a few occasions. It was a very tight fit, and required a good bit of finagling, but where there's a will, there's a way. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Plus it allowed for some great reactions from people walking out of the club at the end of the night.

I dont know what I would do if I had only one or the other.....need both for sure.
A friend of mine lugged his 810 in a hyundai. You don't need a truck or station wagon. Later he put a trailer hitch on the car and towed the 810 in a very small trailer.

You're concerned about sonic downsides of multiple 10's?

Run two 2x10 vertical with head under, as little volume as you can get away with, and have the PA crank you up.

I say go for it. What could be cooler than pulling up to the gig in a Honda Fit and pulling an 810 out of the back?

I'm taking it you like it. Does hauling it around bother you versus your 7 lb. GB? Those class D amps are killer. My SVT weighs 90 lbs and the case is another 45. Won't be long before this old man says "ENOUGH." Real tube amps really are sweet. Glad you like it...

i like it...haven't gigged, just rehearsed so i haven't hauled it around much.

do i like it such more than all the class d amps ive tried that I'll deal with the extra weight? That remains to be seen...i haven't had the"THIS is the last amp I'll own moment" yet
