SVT CL-AV voltage taps

Sign in to disble this ad
With the Aussie dollar even stevens with the US$ and with the approval of the ministry of finance (Wifey), I'm about ready to grab an SVT from the US for use in Australia.
I would like a VR but it's just a little out of reach atm so I'm looking at a US made CL-AV.
Does anybody know if they have input taps for 240V? I know the Viet CL's do but not sure on the AV.
These things cost as much as a new car in Oz so importing is the way I need to go to make it happen.

You can find used VR's for about the same money as CL-AV's, and for that matter Vintage 70's SVT's. I think you're looking at $1200 to $1500 used. Guitar Center's used section online is a great place to look, but I don't know if they'll ship to AU...

I believe the SVT-CLs under LOUD had 120/240 taps. I also think that the SLM ones do as well, but I'd have to pull mine apart to confirm.
I don't know about SVT-AVs, though I assume it's the same as I believe they are the same guts, just different looks.
Also, not all 70s SVTs have taps for 240v.

I'm keen on this thread. Finding an svt seems easy enough, but how would you go about shipping one?

Pull the tubes out and wrap them separately, pack the head itself VERY well, like almost box inside of another box deal. You can't be too careful.

To ship itI'l use Shipito. It gets delivered to their warehouse and they get you to fill out a customs dec and then it's on a Fedex bird and lands in Oz a few days later.

As far as I know, all CL units have the transformer with all the taps.
