The SVT Fan Connector - Type?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know what type of connector this is and where I can find one? I'll be trying out some different fans, and would be nice to keep the factory connector in there and just swap the fan side.

Thanks.

Molex makes connectors like that.

You can look for them at places like Digi-Key, Newark, or Mouser. Search for "molex power plug". Here is one from Newark. You have to buy the housing, pins and sockets separately.

There might be a part number on your connector for you to use as a reference.

I'll take a closer look at the connector to see if I can find a number... I looked at those links (thanks btw), but didn't see a matching one... not so far.

Since it is just to test some fans, you could not use the fan connector. Unplug your fan, put a 120VAC plug on the fan cord of the fan under test, plug it into the socket on the back of your amp.

Lol.... I guess that's one way to do it! Was just hoping to actually find the exact connector, but I think I've searced the entire web to no luck.

Do the SVT fans all have the same specs? (all years)

Thanks again.

Not sure if the fan specs were the same over the years. They sourced the fans from different suppliers.

If it helps, my VR had a Jamicon JA1225H1S01. The fan was quite loud.

Concerning the connector, unfortunately they changed those as well. Sometimes you can change the housing and keep the terminals. This would solve your problem in that you can use a new connector housing but it would be fully reversible.

It is also possible that the power connector came from the company that supplied the fan. If there is a name on the fan you might be able to trace the connector through them.

Ahh... good clue. Mine has a "Muffin" made by Rotron, Inc.

Good to know the connectors are all different though. I thought it was a 1 type for all... I know, I know... silly me... Why would anything be standard.. lol

Thanks again,
Sam

If you find something quieter let us know. It is the one thing about my VR that drives me nuts.

I've heard lot's of problems with these fans, but once I put some oil in, by taking off the little plug that says ''OIL HERE'', mine hums along very nicely. If it does start to become noisy then I'll just machine up another set of bushes.

Haha, I love the noise from the fan, its never made a difference in live settings or the studio. It sounds like its ready to kick butt the second you turn it on.
