SVT-HD (Skunky) Knobs - Where To Find?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, hoping someone here knows a place where I can find some knobs that were used originally on the 1-500 made SVT-HD (Skunk Works) amps. I think these were also used on the VT-60 Guitar Amps

I'm currently using what FlipTop.net calls "Ampeg Modern Black Barrel Knob for D-Shaft".

The main problem with those is that the "D" is on the opposite side causing the white indicator line to mark the volumes in their 180 degree spot; Meaning, if I want the volume to be at "10-O'clock" the line will be at 4 O'clock.

I remedied that by drilling a hole and sticking a white piece of plastic in the holes to somewhat resemble the original ones, marking the correct volume location.

Anyway, looking to restore the amp with hopefully more original looking knobs.

This image shows the original/correct knobs on top part, then below that you can see the knobs I modified.

I'm also looking for the blackplate (where the jacks and swiches are located), which is unique to this model as well as to the MTI era model. Again, fliptop only has the original blue-line version of that backplate which has the holes in different spots.

This is the type I need to locate.

Thanks for the help.

You might want to check with LS Electronics. I've never dealt with them but I have them saved in my records as a possible source for Ampeg items. I don't remember the exact history but I think some of the employees are ex-St. Louis Music employees and I think they've got a lot of the old parts inventory.
