SVT-HD Standby Pop - Normal I think, but a solution?

My SVT-HD pops when flipping the Standby switch. It's my understanding this is a normal thing with these amps. It's pretty annoying and it scares our cats - Is there a solution on reducing or completely eliminating the pop?

Does turning the amps volume knob all the way down first eliminate the pop?
