Looking into a new head and came across one of these guys. I'm in a metalcore band, we're tuned to drop C# may eventually make the leap to drop C. How will the head do with that type of music? Im a huge fan of bands like Asking Alexandra and In Fear And Faiths tone and wondering if this head will be good for this. Also, will the 1000 watts be too much for the SVT610HLF?

It should rock hard with that setup, but you will have to watch your volume...of course, that point where you'll need to watch your volume will be so ridiculously loud through a 610HLF that only the most insanely loud of the insanely loud would need to worry about it. Great head, BTW...probably the best non-all-tube amp I've ever played.

Possibly the next rig I'm going to own. A cheap great-sounding amp with a kilowatt of steel-balls into a huge semi-portable cab.

Go for it if you have a method of lugging around a 6x10 cab.

It's going to be $800 at most all places unless you can catch a sale. Zzounds is as good as any place.

I played my first outdoor gig with the 7PRO/610HLF setup I have last night and the rig really did a great job. I let the bassist for another group use it instead of his small combo and he said its the best sound he's ever gotten out of his Fender Jazz, a really sweet sounding 90's MIM, BTW.

My tone came through just the way I intended. I never pushed the volume past 10:00 with the gain set at around 2:00 and it was plenty loud. the sound guy did not even push it to the house system even though we were hooked up to it. Wondering how much volume is too much for the cab with the mismatched wattage rating but I doubt the rig would ever need to be pushed that hard in most situations.

As a reference, we are a 4 piece group with two guitars and a powerhouse drummer playing various styles of original rock from ballad to very aggressive. We play loud but everyone is more concerned with balancing the output instead trying to win a volume war.

I'm surprised this has not been asked yet...............

You state that you already own the cab - What head were you powering it with before ?

If you already had a decently powerful amp for the cab, throwing more wattage at it may not be the answer to getting louder - adding additional cabs is.

ok so...with an amp like this, would the VT Bass Deluxe be a good pedal for more tones? or would adding this pedal kinda screw up the sound, or add another flavor to it if you want?
