Sweet, rare Kustom that needs work, in MD craigslist!

I've been a pretty staunch supporter of the old Kustom Tuck n Roll amps, here on TB...

Here's one of the, in my opinion, holy grail Kustom amps...

It's busted, and i'm broke... but, it'd be great to see such an awesome amp go to a fellow TB'er

I would buy that if i still lived up there.

Kustom actually made some Tube stuff in the later 80's. IIRC their biggest tube model was a 100w amp. This is probably a hybrid from that "series".

Man... i never played through a full tube Kustom before.

When i got to play out of one of these hybrid heads though, it was awesome! I think Kustom's solidstate tone is already wonderful... but with that little bit of extra 'oomph' from the pre-tube... SO GOOD!

It's a lame aesthetic compairison... but i wonder if Kustom full-tube tone holds anything in common with its tuck'n'roll bro, Earth? My band uses an old Earth full-tube PA head... i've plugged it into my cab a few times, and it's also wonderful!!

This is NOT a tube head. It's Tube pre, SS power. The seller is a bit misinformed.

Ah... his wording was weird... i get that it kinda' sounded like "ss and tube power" could easily be mistaken for a tube power section...

Yes - the tiny tranny is a hint... that and the lack of tubes.

These old Kustom amps do look cool... but the sound? Blech.

What model earth is it? Its probably a Fender Dual Showman copy. These Kustoms probably don't sound all that bad, and i personally would give $200 for a working 4x10, even better if its covered in TNR. I'd consider the TNR amp a bonus, if it even works.

And yes, he doesn't say its fully tube, right on the front it says its a hybrid.

Somebody... buy this!! So I don't force my friends up in MD to get this and ship it to me.

I'm pretty sure that's one of the newer Kustoms (late 90s? can't remember) made before they had to change the brand name to Krossroad. Notice the chorus knob and the rotary "graphic" EQ controls.

Check this thread.

I bought this off CL....1969 with Altec 421 A's.Had been in his closet for 41 yrs with the covers on.About 4 hrs of playing time, never been out of his house. The amp will not keep up with SOME of the newer stuff but has a nice vintage tone.I used the speaker cab with my Mesa WA and then with my Carvin BX 500 on 2 different gigs...talk about moving some SERIOUS air.....like having a fan on stage
