SWR 350x problem

Hey all

Just moved into a new place and tried to plug in the 350x for the first time (here, been playing with it for about a year at the old place). 350x->Avatar 210 (via speakon)->fender jazz

Strange problem. So I start with all the Gain and Mater knobs turned down, and when turning on the amp, subwave is active. Ok, so this happened to me before, it was annoying but i just had to turn it off. Well this time the subwave does not respond to the selector switch and I cannot get that purple LED to turn off - even with the footswitch.

So I thought fine, I'll just play with the stupid subwave on. Well I can't turn the Master up any higher than off without a horrible buzz coming through, and going to about the second notch lights up the limiter green LED and a louder buzz happens.

I have no clue what is going on here, any ideas?

ok went through all the paces, checked wires, cords, etc, not it.

Opened her up as a last resort - lol the ring that holds in the subwave switch had worked itself down the threads and over the 4 solders shorting them all out. Tightened that back up, and tightened up some other plugs/grounds and now shes back up and running. I was all looking up replacement 12AX7s and everything.

Will leave this up in case someone else runs into the subwave problem

Most faults are going to be simple like you stated. In my troubleshooting experience working on military equipment the faults are either user inexperience, a switch setting or something is loose. You would have paid big bucks for someone to open it, tighten the washer and charge you an arm and a leg. It pays to discover....

On a serious note, be careful opening up the amp as most people have no idea what they are looking for or unaware of what can happen with exposed electronics.

Good job!!

I hear that - I've had a decent share of soldering and wiring up hifi components so I had a semi-lucid idea of what I was looking at but definitely something to watch for.
