Question SWR Amp with Epifani cabs anyone ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anybody play this combination ?

I'm using a UL902 with Epifani cabs - the last time I got the feeling I would go back to SWR amps again (which I've played 8 years before my Epifani time)

Now I could buy a SM900 - but will stay with my UL cabs.... I used to play a SM500 through my old Epifani T310 around 8 years ago...

I've tried it. It's not terrible, but can be a bit bright. Epifani's are sensitive enough IME that the character of a preamp is very apparent through them. There's really no way to "warm up" an SWR amp outside of using something in the effects loop that has a fatter sound - no amount of EQ will make it sound not like an SWR. It's just something you have to try.

I can imagine it will sound better in a band than by itself. You'll have no issues with clarity with that sort of rig.

I'm using a Sadowsky DI/Preamp for some weeks now and got addicted to it

My choice now would be the MM Preamp with two Amplite poweramps.....

The thing with the Epifani is that I have the impression that it could get too boomy sometimes. Even when you're playing everything set flat on the EQ
