Hey everybody.

The time has come for me to purchase an amplifier and some cabs
I really like using my VT bass as a preamp and i think im gonna try the swr amplite 400w poweramp (less is genious) and a 4x10 or 2x12
Any intel on this? Other poweramps I should consider?

Not sure what's available in northern Greeece but here a GK MB500 is cheaper than the amplight, has more power, is as small and light, and can be used with or without the VT.

Do you own an mb500 or a 700RB?
Between the two which one produces more *grit*?

I was gonna get the SWR and after trying a bunch of amps I'd recomend GK; Little mark or the Genz Benz Streamliner sounds pretty BAD A$$

Owned the MB500 but never the 700RB. I'd use the VT for the grit.

I do have the RB1001 and sounds like a monster.

I decided to get this one since I already have a LMIII

both are very nice amps and the GK can sound clean if you want to

For the same money as the Amplite, I'd take a look at the Ampeg PF500. 500w and you could use the VT as a distortion box and run the PF500 clean or slightly dirty and still get the sound that makes the VT a great pedal.

Cost issue aside, it is a great combo especially with a compressor hitting the VT.

Surprise, Jimmy suggests an AMPIG. Lol, just messing with you, but IMO the MB500 is a better suggestion than the amplite, cheaper and more power. Heck the Markbass might even be available for less...

Whilst I love my VTbass, I really didnt care for the PF500, nothing wrong with the amp at all, I think I would have preferred the PF350 (i thought the MicroVR was great).

Petros, for your needs all you need is an amp with an effects return, I assume the PF500 has it (I didnt look at the time), The MB500 has it too. So really the question is what can you get for the cheapest?

A Headlite and an Amplite, both in one rackspace... for me, too tempting to rule out.

I would also suggest the mb500 over the amplite. I own both the headlite "same power amp as the amplite" and an mbfusion "same power section as the mb500" and found the gk blows the swr away in power and volume.

swr golight

Looking for a punchy 1x15 and thinking the SWR or the Ashdown 115. Like the 4x 10s but need more grunt for small/medium gigs.

Anyone recommend a good 1x15?

I had both the Headlite and the Amplite. The Amplite was louder than the Headlite and took to my VT bass a lot better than the Headlite. Being able to tap directly into the power of the the Amplite makes all the difference in the world.
