SWR bass 750 question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey. So I have an american (early 2000s) SWR bass 750 hooked up to an 8 ohm goliath and an 8 ohm son of bertha (115). It sounds great but I just don't have any volume. I mean, I can crank it up pretty much all the way in a small room by myself and still hear people talk. Running 450 watts at 8 ohms, it was quieter than my friends hartke 200-some watt. At 450 watts (just the goliath) I had to have it up to about 8 with full gain just to keep up with the drums in a small practice room. Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

Okay. Pre cranked up to barely flashing. Aural enhancer off or no more than 11:00.
Tone controls flat and crank Master as much as you need. If you need bass eq reduce treble.
Now, without flames use inexpensive large gauge 4 or 8 gauge speakon to speakon.
What kind of bass are you using?
Use passive input.
How old is pre tube? Does the head need service? My BBII needed caps and it slowly got quieter and bad sounding.
I had two of these heads and one with just the Goliath can be quite loud. Adding the other cab would be loud.

Using a Warwick corvette with active delano electronics and pickups. The amp is a 2000 or 2001 I think. I've never had it serviced and bought it used, don't know if it's ever been serviced before.

Would an old tube cause it to be quiet?

There's a possibility. Try swapping the tube(s). If that doesn't fix it, take it to a tech.
