Trying to trade my SVT-CL for 400 plus an SWR Bass 750. I havent found much info other than the SWR 750x goes for about $500 used. Can someone explain to me the difference between the two heads?

I don't know, but there's no way I'd trade an SVT for anything SWR.

The SWR 750X has the octave and distortion circuits if I recall correctly.

I have owned half a dozen SWR amps and the 750 was my least favorite. It felt very underpowered. Otherwise I think their gear is sweet. I'd play them side by side with the cabinets you are going to be using and let your ears tell you if it's a good deal or not.

I'm not trying to compare the sound of the SVT with the SWR, just the value between the two SWR heads. I've fallen on some hard financial times

Say $400. or even $350/$375. it's older. To me much better than the X. Nothing extra in the circuit. It's the Redhead pre a Steve Rabe design. These next tips will get you some volume. Dial that treble back a hair possibly even the bass eq. Limit your aural enhancer to 11:00 at most, if at all. Dial that pre way up. See that pre light flash steadily then back off a hair. Then Master as much as you need.

I picked my bass 750 for $300 used. Great head I think( I do however have a vt bass pedal always on ). I heard that the 750x sounded a little more underpowered then the bass 750 but I never tried one out. With the right speakers this head gets loud. I haven't had a problem playing with loud drummers and 2 guitarists with Marshall 4x12s without me using a single peavey 410txf. I turn the aural enhancer almost all the way down and have no problem with being heard, or felt.

This. But if you love the SWR750(as I do), then you owe it to yourself to check out a Thunderfunk.
