I am thinking about buying one...owner is letting me try it out.
Is there some way to find out how old it is?
Also, from what I have read, there should be a switch for the tweeter, but this one doesn't have one (a switch that is).
It is in good shape...some of the carpet is a little rough, but I think for $200 it is a good deal.
Anything to check on, or be aware of?
How good is the xlr out?

| | | | If it says Bassic not Basic, it's from the first year it was out (1992). The name was changed shortly after it's release. If I recall correctly, the tweeter switch was also added later. I had a "Bassic" and it didn't have the switch either. If you turned the treble all the way down, it disabled the tweeter. Never used the XLR out but it was a great amp and was part of the Pro Series, not the Workingman. I don't know the going rate, but $200 sounds like a fair price. |

The XLR out was always fine, although I remember a few sound guys telling me it was a hotter than usual output and they had to pad it. It's not a particularly loud amp, so if you're planning on using it live without PA support, I'd think twice. It often wasn't even loud enough to use in practice with anything but a quieter drummer.
Also, you might want to pay a lot of attention to the tweeter. To me, it was really harsh and unpleasant sounding.
I sold mine two years ago for $150. Between that and $200 is fair if you really like it. |

| | | | I have a 1994 Basic Black. Take the "head" out of the combo (it's just a dozen or so screws holding it in) and you'll see the date exact manufacture date hand-written on one of the components. I discovered this while trying to clean some scratchy pots.
I paid $175 for mine but it wasn't quite if perfect working order so I'd say that $200 is a fair price. |

Thanks for all the help...
