I possess a Gran Prix, a 1998 Silverado II Combo, One Son of Bertha (SWR Engineering) & One Son of Bertha (SWR Sound)...both drivers have since been replaced w/ FaitalPRO's 15HP1020 (insane)

Been using the Gran Prix paired up w/a MESA Boogie Strategy 400 for a while and I can't seem to get quite the SWR sound I'm used to with the Silverado combo. I know the MESA is seasoning my tone with it's own flavor but I absolutely love the clarity and punch of that combo and I'm concerned if it's getting lost in the MESA.

Please help me my SWR-loving brothers

Just set up my SWR stack for the first time today.

SWR Mini Mo preamp
SWR SM-500 amplifier
SWR RU-N2N tuner
SWR Henry Jr. 4x8 (pre-Fender) cab
SWR Goliath II 4x10 (pre-Fender) cab

I'm hoping I can add a Big Ben 1x18 and maybe a power amp soon, too.

Number, please?

Seems sad that SWR seems to be fading out, but I have about a ton of their pro-line stuff, including some insane-deal close-out heads, a 350X and a 550X (to supplement my 750X) that I got for near nothing when they were discontinued. I think these are very underrated heads...though I could easily have done without the SubWave nonsense on all of these.

Lots of Goliath cabs...

My Black Beauty is an amazing-sounding amp for groove bass.

This stuff was just too expensive for the market, I guess. I never could have afforded it if I hadn't found very long deals.

I use a SWR workingman 12 and no bass amp could compare to the versatility of it,however if I could find a redhead I might retire it but it would still save it in my arsenal.

Kiel83 I have to agree. I've had my Workingman 12 for about 13 yrs. I love it, the sound, the portability and the over all bang for the buck you can't beat it. Mine has the Celestion K12T-200 speaker.

My SM500 still has the original 12ax7 preamp tube and I've been gigging steadily for the past 12 years with it. Never had any problems with it except for a bad speaker fuse socket which was a minor repair for me (touch wood). The paragraphic EQ is so versatile, I can get a myriad of tones because each of the four bands is sweepable. I'm never selling mine. I'll gig it till it goes up in smoke.

SWR amps are too clean for some tastes, but I've been running an Ibanez Tube Screamer (TS9) in the effects loop for some dirt, and with the Goliath Senior it flat out roars.

I have one of these little guys. I pair it with a little Eden head for small situations. I also have a Workingman's 12 combo that is pretty nice. The one I miss though was an old Redhead series. I have one of the SM500's of a later generation and it never sounded as good as my old one.
